A New Season of Projects

July, 2018
The hot season has drawn to a close here in Thailand and the recent stormy weather in many parts of the country heralds not just the start of the rainy season but the start of several exciting new volunteer projects in Bangkok and Chiang Mai for our organization. It has been more than a month since our last new project start date so we are all very keen to get stuck into these new ventures and to ensure that each one reaches as many people as possible. Whether you are currently in Thailand or elsewhere in the world, we hope that you enjoyed your local Songkran celebrations and are looking forward to working with our organization in the near future!

Revitalized After a Pleasant Break

Every year we take a break during the hot season, to allow both our permanent staff and our wonderful volunteers to relax and recharge their batteries. Coinciding with the school holidays in Thailand, the hottest part of the year is the ideal time to take a break and the time off is always much appreciated by everyone concerned. Having said that, we are all very excited to be returning to the fray and are relishing the chance to make a real difference to many people’s lives with the wide variety of projects that we will be starting during the remainder of 2018. After taking advantage of the free time that we have had to explore new places, catch up with friends or simply soak up some sun in a beautiful location, every member of Friends for Asia is feeling fresh and enthusiastic, ready to face whatever new challenges may come our way over the next few months.

Welcoming New Volunteers in Chiang Mai and Thailand

One of the most enjoyable stages of any new project is the period during which we welcome new volunteers to our groups and equip them with the knowledge and skills they need to realize their dreams of lending a helping hand to those less fortunate or less able to help themselves. The dynamics of each group of volunteers under our umbrella is always unique and may well change and evolve over time but one thing all the groups we assemble have in common is a desire to change people’s lives and to give as much of themselves as possible during their time here in Thailand. Everyone that joins us, from seasoned volunteers to complete novices, possesses a desire to help that binds them all together and enables each group to work towards common goals in a highly effective manner.

New Projects in Bangkok and Chiang Mai

As mentioned in an earlier post, several new projects were started in both Bangkok and Chiang Mai on 7th May this year, including one in our Bangkok Orphanage, Bangkok Medical Internship, a Chiang Mai Womens Empowerment Project and Chiang Mai Medical Internship Program. For additional information about our volunteer and intern opportunities, please visit our projects page. Although these projects are already off to a great start, it is still possible for you to join one of them if you are keen to start your own adventure in South East Asia as soon as possible and would love the chance to try volunteering in Thailand. If you will not be in country until later in the year there is no need to worry as we have many other projects in the pipeline and would be delighted to hear from you, whatever your particular skill set and interests may be. Many of the volunteer opportunities we have to offer require no previous experience and no particular skills, whilst others are more suitable for those with relevant life experience or skills that qualify them to take up the posts in question.

What You Can Expect When Volunteering in Thailand

If you are genuinely interested in joining one of our volunteer groups in Thailand for the 2018 rainy season, the best way to find out exactly what you can expect is to call and speak to us about the various programs in which you may be interested. Because we are involved in a wide variety of local community projects in both Bangkok and Chiang Mai, the specific experiences and opportunities awaiting you will depend on which particular project or program you wish to become involved with. However, one thing that we can say with complete confidence to all prospective volunteers is this: we will provide you with everything you need to ensure that your volunteering experience in Thailand is an unqualified success from start to finish and a time in your life that you will look back on fondly for many years to come!
